How to Send a Group Text Message
- Log in to the Line2 app on your mobile device, if you haven't already.
- Tap Messages from the bottom navigation bar.
- On iPhone, this appears as a notepad icon in the upper-left corner.
- On Android devices, it appears as a pencil icon in the bottom-right corner.
- Tap the New Message (notepad) icon.
- In the To: field, enter or select the contacts you want to message.
- Group messages are limited to 10 recipients.
- Enter your message in the Text Message field.
- (Optional) Tap the paperclip icon to attach a photo.
- Tap Send to deliver your message.
Note: All recipients in a group message can see and reply to the group conversation.
Why Can I Only Send Group Messages to Up to 10 Recipients?
Many major U.S. mobile carriers do not support group messages with more than 10 participants. To provide a consistent experience across carriers, Line2 limits group messaging to 10 recipients.
What Photo File Types Are Supported?
Line2 supports the following image formats for MMS:
- .JPG
- .PNG
Can I Send MMS Messages to International Numbers?
No. International MMS messaging is not supported at this time.
I Have a U.S. Local Number and Cannot Send or Receive MMS Messages. Why?
MMS availability depends on carrier and service area support. If you are using a U.S. local number and cannot send or receive MMS messages, your number may be in an area where MMS is not supported.

I Have a Toll-Free Number and Cannot Send or Receive MMS Messages. Why?
Toll-free numbers have several SMS/MMS limitations:
- Group messaging is not supported.
- Messages sent to multiple recipients (up to 10) are delivered as individual SMS messages, not as a group conversation.
- You can send photos, but recipients receive a link to the photo rather than a traditional MMS attachment.
- You cannot receive MMS messages, including:
- Multimedia messages (photos, videos, audio files)
- Group messages
Can I Send a Message to Multiple Recipients with a Toll-Free Number?
Yes. Toll-free numbers can send messages to up to 10 recipients at once; however, the message is sent as separate individual SMS messages to each recipient rather than as a group message.
Recipients will not see each other's responses, and replies will come back as individual conversations.
